Definition

  • Andromeda Software, Inc. was founded in May of 1985 with the goal of providing affordable, yet powerful, astronomy and science software. We initially developed several astronomy software packages which were very well received by the astronomical computing community. In 1988, recognizing a worldwide shortage of affordable science software, we become a science shareware vendor. We placed an emphasis on high quality software and accurate descriptions in our catalog to make the software selection process as trouble-free as possible. Our science shareware division quickly expanded and we soon became the world?s largest distributor of science software with customers in well over 30 countries. In 1992 we became a supplier of science CD-ROMs for IBM compatible and Macintosh computers. The CD-ROM, with its tremendous data storage capability, was the perfect solution to the type of science applications that Andromeda Software had become associated with. From huge astronomical databases to multimedia archives from the space program, the CD-ROM was ideal for data-hungry applications. Today our complete on-line catalog contains some of the finest science CD-ROMs available. Many of the titles in our catalog have received worldwide recognition and numerous awards for excellence. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and a constantly expanding product line. Andromeda Software remains committed to meeting the demanding needs of the home, educational, and professional user of scientific software well into the 21st century.
