Definition
- Adapted from the FINNARP website, "http://www.fimr.fi/en/etelamanner/finnarp.html" The Finnish Antarctic Research Program operates within the Institute of Marine Research. Its aim is to support the practical implementation of Antarctic research projects that are funded by the Academy of Finland or other sources such as research institutes. The fieldwork in the Antarctic is usually carried out in the Finnish research centre Aboa and from there to other areas in the western Queen Maud Land. If needed, FINNARP arranges working facilities in the research stations of other countries as well. For marine scientific projects FINNARP arranges transportation and working facilities on ships. FINNARP_95-96 includes projects carried out by the program between 1995-1996. Southern Ocean research was conducted onboard the research vessel, R/V Aranda. (en)
