skos:definition """The Argentine Oceanographic Data Centre (CEADO) created in 1974, has been
organized under the Navy Hydrographic Service (SHN) and the National Scientific
and Technical Research Council (CONICET), a governmental organization of the
Secretary of Science and Technology.
The principal aim of the CEADO is to acquire, quality control quality, and
process and store oceanographic data in national interest areas, and to provide
adequate information to the scientific community, private and public
enterprises and others marine users.
The CEADO performs the specific functions of a National Oceanographic Data
Centre established by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC)
within the International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange System
(IODE) structured by that Commission.
In 1987 the CEADO received its accreditation to operate as Responsible
National Oceanographic Data Centre for the Southern Oceans (RNODC/SOC) within
the IODE System having to collaborate as its principal aim with both A and B
World Data Centres in all matters related to physical and chemical
oceanographic data obtained by the countries within the area south to parallel
50x South Latitude.
In 1990, the CEADO was accredited by the IOC and World Meteorological
Organization (OMM) to operate as a Specialized Oceanographic Center within the
Integrated Global Oceans System (IGOSS) covering an area of responsibility in
the South Atlantic Ocean.
