  skos:definition """Satellite Monitoring Laboratory is subdivision of the Institute
of Automation and Control Processes of the Far East Branch,
Russian Academy of Sciences; established at 1977. During the
time, a large volume of scientific researches and engineer works
in the sphere of Remote Sensing (RS) and Regional Satellite
Monitoring of Environment (RSM) were completed. The great
experience of RSM conducting was accumulated; and RSM technology
for operative and retrospective support of science researches
and some economic applications was developed. At 1999, the
Inter-Institute Centre for the Satellite Monitoring of
Environment was created and operated on the basis of the
Laboratory.

The main jobs of the Laboratory are:

-Investigations in the fields of RS and RSM including a new
scientific and economic application;

-Upgrade of existent and development of new RSM methods, hardware, and software;

-Carrying out basic and applied investigations of
ocean/atmosphere natural processes and objects by means of RSM;

-Information support of basic and applied researches at Far East
Region (including maritime cruises support).

-Scientist and engineers training.
