The Fisheries and Aquaculture Services branch groups together the following

habitat that supports the commercial fisheries in the province.

* innovations in fisheries and aquaculture

Aquaculture: The Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture is
committed to working with Nova Scotians in promoting aquaculture development,
aimed at enhancing economic stability, employment opportunities in coastal
communities and the sustainable use of our coastal resources.

Areas of involvement:
* site leasing and licensing
* fish health
* development and extension services

Inland Fisheries: It is our policy to protect, conserve and enhance the quality
and diversity of the fishery resources of this province and to provide
continued and varied angling opportunity through scientific inventory,
classification and management of those resources.

Areas of involvement:
* inland sportfish management
* sportfishing development/promotions
* inland conservation
* lake and river stocking
