skos:definition """The Istituto di Chimica Biomolecolare (ICB) is among the new institutes founded
by the CNR, the one with a high uniformity from scientific and cultural points
of view despite the fact it is widely distributed on the national territory.
The main branch of the Institute is in Pozzuoli (Naples), other branches are in
Catania, Roma, Padova and Sassari.

As a whole the ICB is constituted by 152 personal units
(researcher-technologist: 74; associate researcher: 24; administrative staff:
48; univeristy based administrative staff: 6).

The ICB originates from 6 member institutes of the CNR (3 Institutes and 3
Centres) all previosly belonging to National Committee of Chemical Sciences
and, in the period from 1996 to 1999, all taking part of dell’Istituto
Nazionale di Coordinamento “Chimica dei Sistemi Biologici” (INC - CSB).

The ICB focused its research activities on:
-ISOLATION, CHARACTERIZATION, AND STRUCTURE-ACTIVITY RELATIONSHIPS:
-SYNTHESIS, PROPERTIES AND DESIGN
-NEW METHODOLOGIES
-BIOTECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF BIOMASSES AND OF BIOLOGICALLY INTERESTING
COMPOUNDS
